SC Mother Accused of Sex With Teens



Kinsley Wentzky, 34-year-old English teacher at at Dreher High School, Columbia ,South Carolina, has been fired from her job for an alleged sexual relations with male students.

The Richmond District 1 school board voted this week to fire Wentzky, a mother of two, who has been charged with sexual battery. Columbia Police issued a warrant for her arrest after a parent of one of the victims reported the alleged relationship, and Wentzky was arrested earlier this month. According to investigators,, teacher had sexual relations with a 17-year-old boy several occasions in her home on Fernwood Road in Forest Acres. Wentzky reportedly knew the boy from Dreher High School where she has taught honors English classes for seven years. Prosecutors say that Kinsley Wentzky admitted to the sexual relationship and that there was a second underage victim. Wentzky’s arrest warrant stated that both she and the alleged victim provided sworn statements about their illicit relationship.

The alleged affair with the second student came to light when the parents of the victim called the school principal on December 27. On New Year’s Day, the boy and the 34-year-old married teacher were interviewed by police.

In South Carolina, the age of consent is 16. But in 2010, a law was passed making it illegal for teachers or other adults in positions of authority in a school to have sex with students aged 16 or 17.
