Special ed teacher Nicole Jacobsen resigns after sex-abuse charge

Nicole Jacobsen, 39-year-old eighth-grade teacher at West Oak Middle School has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old boy. She has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Nicole Jacobsen, of 8813 McKinley Drive, Barrington, resigned via e-mail to Superintendent Roger Prosise Sunday evening, effective immediately. Jacobsen is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 14-year-old male at West Oak Middle School, where she was an eighth grade LD Resource Teacher, providing extra help to those students who needed it. This was her first year with the school district. The teacher is alleged to have fondled the boy in a school classroom after a volleyball game May 13.

The allegations surfaced when the boy's 17-year-old brother found messages May 17 on the 14-year-old's Facebook account between the boy and Jacobsen, like a message from the teacher stating "I love you and can't wait to see you."

Jacobsen denied the allegations when questioned by the school district, saying that someone must have hacked into her Facebook account. The account was shut down that evening, according to Stephen Scheller, assistant state's attorney. During the investigation by the Sheriff's Office, on Saturday (May 22) Jacobsen admitted to sending the messages and to the incident on May 13.
Jacobsen, married mother with children, was booked into custody and later released on $50,000 bond.

It seems that Nicole Jacobsen's teaching habiths were really special.
